Summer Wedding Meal Ideas

For engaged couples, it’s the time to start dreaming about a beautiful summer wedding (hopefully with wonderful warm weather) and to start sifting through summer wedding meal ideas that make their special day a signature seasonal event.

Fresh Food Stations

The mere mention of the word “summer” brings up all the pleasant memories warm breezes and fresh air.  Food stations with fresh fruits and salads elicit all those emotions and give your guests the chance to mingle and enjoy the tastes of summer.  Combine these food stations with other stations that complement your wedding atmosphere.  Think lobster mac and cheese, sage or pesto grilled cheese, tenderloin sliders, or other delicious favorites.

Summer Drinks

Everyone’s idea of the ultimate summer drink is different: ice cold cola, strawberry lemonade, summer cocktail.  The right drink for your wedding depends on the atmosphere you’re trying to create for your summer wedding (don’t hesitate to ask your catering staff for recommendations as well).  While choosing drinks may not be your first thought when setting your summer wedding menu, the right summer drink can make a great impression on your guests.

Seasonal Items

Garden Skewers with fresh basil, tomato, and mozzarella are the perfect start for your menu.  Or try our crisp Cucumber Gazpacho Shooters.  Plan your entree with choices such as Asparagus Ties (tender asparagus with a summer squash tie) and Island Chicken.  Decide on the formality of your special day and load your menu full of seasonal items.

Fresh Sweets

Sweet summer treats are a part of warm nights and events; your wedding should be no exception.  For a casual or rustic event, serve s’mores and cherry and peach pie in a mason jars station.  For a dessert as fresh as a summer field consider an assorted pastry station or a Raspberry and Passion Fruit with a strawberry glaze.

Late Night Summer Fuel

Don’t let your summer wedding meal end after the wedding cake.  Keep your late night guests dancing with a late night course.  Ask your caterer about adding an interactive food station.  For a casual summer feel, add a gourmet popcorn station.  To sweeten up the evening (who doesn’t like more dessert!), ask your caterer about a late night Sundae Bar that will elicit images of warm summer evenings and cool summertime treats.
